Article on Nancy in Verve! 7/18/2008 - 16:15

A couple of months ago, a reporter from Verve magazine, Janet Hurley, came out to the Farm to interview Nancy. Verve is a new publication whose focus is on women in Western North Carolina in the arts, business, fashion and design.

From the article:

"The fire just wouldn’t catch, though it was a blazing hot July day. Nancy Brown, then 44, and her teenage son, Joel, had just gathered fallen apple tree branches into a pile on her 17 acres, now known as Full Moon Farm, outside Black Mountain. They just wanted to be done with the chore so they could move on to others, like caring for the 12 neglected wolfdogs Brown had recently taken in. Brown fetched a can of kerosene and soaked the branches. It seemed like a good idea. But the humidity hung in the air like a rug, trapping the kerosene fumes. Just the hint of a spark caused an explosion that left Brown with second- and third-degree burns all over her body."

About Us

Full Moon Farm is an organization dedicated to the well being of the wolfdog (wolf hybrid) and captive-bred wolf. Situated on 17 beautiful mountain acres in Black Mountain, NC, we operate as a federally recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization for abused and refused wolfdogs and wolves who find themselves in need of love, shelter, and care through no fault of their own.

Though they may be abused or neglected, homeless because of death or divorce, they are all God's Creatures and worthy of a lifetime of respect. We are here to serve them.
